What should you look for in a market report? This worked example shows a research process you can repeat in NOVI. All conditions below are hypothetical: this is not a current market update, a generated NOVI forecast, or a recommendation to trade.
Open NOVI dashboardSuppose an asset has risen over a day while its broader market has barely moved. The question is whether the move reflects sustained participation or a short burst. Record the asset, exchange, quote currency, observation time, and chart interval first. A one-hour candle and a daily candle answer different questions; compare like with like.
In this example, price is above a recent trading range, reported volume is higher, and a headline appeared earlier in the day. These are three observations to verify separately. Check volume against comparable periods on the same venue. Check when the headline was first published. A large wallet transfer would be another observation, not proof of buying or selling.
Continuation: participation stays elevated and price holds above the earlier range. Reversion: participation fades and price returns inside the range. Unresolved: venues disagree or data is delayed, so the evidence is insufficient. These are conditional explanations to monitor. None has an assigned probability in this example, because no calibrated estimate was calculated.
Write down the observation that would challenge each explanation. For continuation, a return into the earlier range would weaken the case. For reversion, sustained participation after the initial burst would challenge it. If a data feed is stale, repair the evidence before revising the interpretation. Specify a review time rather than changing the question after seeing the outcome.
Save the original question, evidence timestamps, competing explanations, and next review time. At review, record what happened and which assumptions failed. Do not turn a successful example into an accuracy claim.
